An intimate work, while universal

Presentation

Mining is deeply connected with both Andalusian and Basque history. It transformed the territory, opened the doors of modernity and promoted a relationship between different people that arose from necessity and the workforce, although it ended up influencing the respective cultures.

Synopsis

The story of an Andalusian migrant woman in the Gallarta mining basin is shown. The announcement of a tragedy leads her to a whirlwind of sadness and despair, forcing her to take refuge in memory. The personal loss in a foreign land takes center stage, until she finally faces her misery, claiming herself as a woman empowered in a foreign land, complete and self-sufficient. We talk about life, death, the need to leave home, integration, love, the role of women, loss, pain, and overcoming adversity; all this in a specific context: the Basque mining-industrial one. It is a poetic and emotional work that oscillates between the present and the past, the now and the memory, the here and the there.

The silhouette, the design in fashion, different historical situations, women, the gender perspective, music, dance, ... are the co-stars of this work.

Presentation

A particular journey that reveals certain milestones in women's fashion since the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century. Taking into account that history, economy, culture and art are in tune with trends, it is logical to think that throughout the last century, these trends were numerous.

Synopsis

Moments of oppression, struggle, liberation, ease and pragmatism are embodied in the show. Through the choice of various iconic elements in women's fashion, the motivation of their appearance is raised; as well as its impact on the way of acting, expressing and ultimately, on the way of life of women. These aspects are covered through music, singing and dance, with a flamenco base in its essence, but also mingled with contemporary style. The wardrobe is a key piece for this project; the designs brought to the stage, accompanied by the plot content, describe the importance of fashion in the construction of personalities and in social relationships.
